KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Overall responsibility for the successful completion of projects, establishing and maintaining the correct structures to control and monitor the project deliverables • Implementing project management approaches and tools to drive the project forward and meet project objectives • Ownership across all stages of the UEL project life cycle, from outline business case to lessons learnt and project closure reports • Monitoring the delivery of project plans against agreed milestones and ensure the project plans delivers against the business case • Managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across UEL to ensure that the project benefits are realised Confirming a clear and compelling project vision and defined scope with the intended benefits defined • Ensuring that project tasks and deliverables are appropriately planned, sequenced and executed to deliver the project outcomes within the scope and constraints of the project • Identify, manage and escalate risks via the project governance structure as appropriate • To take overall responsibility for relationship management both with and between key stakeholders to ensure positive stakeholder engagement and buy- in is maintained throughout the project lifecycle • Responsible for ensuring the completion of all necessary PMO project reporting requirements are delivered on time and to agreed UEL PPM approach • To be accountable for the financial control and management of all elements of the project and the delivery against the agreed financial targets and where relevant agreed financial savings • Contribute to and actively encourage project and programme management (PPM)knowledge sharing and up-skilling opportunities across all teams, including contributing to the University-wide community of practice in programme and project management • Capturing clear and measurable project benefits and their associated project outcomes and outputs • Agreeing, managing, and monitoring project resources against the project plan ACCOUNTABILITIES: •

Completion and maintenance of project lifecycle documentation; from outline business case to project initiation documentation – through to lessons learnt and project closure reports • Creation and maintenance of a detailed project plan with key timelines, deliverables, milestones and success measures • Secure the resource needed to deliver the project(s) effectively, with the Programme Manager and then effectively manage the project team resource over the project lifecycle • Allocating work packages for completion to leads and / or individuals within the project team • Work pro-actively to identify and mitigate potential risks to both individual project and overarching programme and portfolio success and ensure any such risks are flagged appropriately • Creation and active management of project RAID log • Creation and active management of the project communication and engagement plan to ensure maximum positive impact with each stakeholder group • Identify potential points of resistance to change based on situational awareness of the details of the change and the groups/individuals being impacted. Ensure whenever possible potential risks to project delivery caused by change resistance are flagged with the Project Sponsor. • To manage the change control process to ensure deliverables are met within the project timeframes with effective escalation of risks to the Programme Manager • To engage and influence UEL operational leads and senior managers, both general/professional and academic, to ensure consistent implementation/ adoption of project outcomes across the institution • Work cooperatively with other Project Managers to support delivery across all projects • Contribute to broader project work and actively participate in relevant working groups • Network with staff and students across the UEL and act as a champion for the Portfolio and Benefits Office at all times. • To undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the grade as may be required by the Programme Manager or Portfolio Director • Management of own workload and priorities and those of the project team/s to ensure realistic delivery expectations are effectively met. • Participate in or lead on such other events or ad hoc projects as may be required by the Programme Manager or Portfolio Director

THE DEPARTMENT The Projects & Estates Development Team (PED) are a part of the Estates & Facilities Directorate at the University of East London. The PED team is a diverse customer focused team dealing with the project lifecycle of project management for numerous developments, new-build and refurbishment projects across the university estate. JOB PURPOSE The Project Manager will play a vital role in ensuring projects run smoothly and to budget and ultimately deliver on their objectives in support of the strategic priorities of the University. The Project Manager will manage the day-to-day delivery and tasks of a project(s), leading on the development and delivery of the project plan, the associated project governance tools, and reporting on progress to the Programme Manager and Project Sponsor as appropriate.
