The connection between fashion and art is so fluid and when combining two creative minds it is amazing what can be created.
on Instagram. The ability to share artwork so fluidly and directly with a large audience was pivotal for building my brand and business. My sudden success allowed me to utilize my marketing degree and build my brand as an artist. Finishing Touches was one of the first store locations to share my artwork, which bolstered my confidence to explore new avenues for my business.

search of my artwork. We connected and I created custom panels for her home, which was a surreal moment as well. This past year, I had a Hermes inspired painting displayed for sale in Bergdorf Goodman in New York City as well as work published in VOGUE, Home and Gardens, and World of Interiors. CBS news anchor, Jessica Kartaljia, interviewed me at our home for a TV segment about my artwork. Later, she hosted a live interview at a solo art show held by Neiman Marcus where models walked a runway in the couture creations which inspired my artwork displayed throughout the store. Each of these experiences encouraged me to continue to grow my business. How has fashion influenced your creative inspiration? Designers such as Monique Llhuillier, Zimmermann, and Oscar de la Renta create works of art when they design runway pieces. I am inspired to translate the beauty and craftsmanship in couture dresses, but also the texture of the embroidery and appliques through various materials such as metal, wallpaper, thick paste, chrome etc. Recently, there have been many evident collaborations between artists and fashion brands and designers. French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet collaborated with Van
Sophia Demirtas, founder and owner of Fanm Mon, tagged me in a post on Instagram. She mentioned she came across a painting I had made of poppy flowers by chance, and was inspired by it to create her latest collection of embroidered dresses. This opened the door to connect and collaborate. For the past year, we have worked together to design a collection of 12 dresses. It has been an amazing experience to bring my artwork full circle back into designing. Sophia’s craftsmanship utilizing hand embroidery and made to order process parallels the one of a kind aspect that a fine art painting holds. I am looking forward to hosting a fun shopping event on July 11th at our home to showcase my fashion collaboration with Fanm Mon. Guests will also be able to shop Tribeca Darling jewelry, owned by Spring Lake local Tracey Brennan, along with other top brands and local talent Anthony Ferraro will provide live music. I am excited to share my artwork and collaboration with my local shore family and friends. The event is open to the public. If you are interested in attending please RSVP to kristentirneyart@gmail.com for more details.
How has the support of your family contributed to your success?
My amazing husband, Jeff, is the forefront of why this has worked. He has encouraged me from day one. When I began to evolve and wanted to frame my work, he bought wood and built me floater frames in our garage. As I grew, I was able to wholesale frames, but he is still the one up at nights framing the artwork for me! I often have opportunities for trunk shows or fundraisers, and he tirelessly helps frame, pack and transport my work while managing our three children’s busy schedules. We are a great team. You have had some pretty well known collectors. Tell us about that! I will never forget getting a message from Mindy Kaling telling me she loved my work. She now has two custom pieces in her Malibu home. She is one of the most supportive client’s which made the experience even better than I anticipated. Another heart stopping moment was a call that Katherine Schwarzenegger had visited the LA Serena & Lily store in
