High Times Local - DENVER NO.1 - March/April 2026

Dear Ed, I am growing in a well-ventilated box that measures 12" deep x 30" wide x 30" high. Between my hydroponic unit which measures 10" D x 30" W x 12" H and the fluorescent lights above, I have only 15V2" of growing space. I would like to flower the plants by the time they’re 5"-6" to leave enough room for the buds. How soon after germination can I put the plants into flowering? If immediately, can I use only bloom fertilizer? Also, how many plants can I have in this system? —Eric the Red Farmingdale, New York Yes. You can put the plants into flow- ering as soon as they germinate. The seedlings will start indicating in two to three weeks. The plants will grow 8-12 inches tall and have buds of 1-3 grams. 60-70 seeds can be planted per square foot. Once the males are picked, there will be about 30 plants per square foot. If the seedlings are given two weeks of continuous light before forcing flowering, they will be about a foot tall at onset of flowering and grow an additional 1-1V2 feet. Up to 30 seeds per square foot can be plant- ed. After sexing, there should be from 5-15 plants per square foot.

I would start with a bloom fertilizer with added nitrogen (N).
