A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

It has been a very busy time for Year 7. Friday morning saw the second half of the Year 7 parent tours. The students were very excited to act as tour guides and I hope you enjoyed the tour. A link to the presentation has been shared but I would like to highlight that many of the common social media apps (WhatsApp, TikTok etc) should not be used by people of Year 7 age. Wednesday saw the whole year group travel to the cinema in Kingston to watch the thought-provoking ‘Chevalier’. The issues raised by the film will be looked at in form time activities next week. In the afternoon we negotiated a revised ‘train strike’ timetable and got back to school in time for a picnic and games afternoon on the school field. The rain just about held off and it was nice to see our students having some fun in the fresh air. Congratulations to 7POR, 7FAd and 7FCO who have all managed to gain over 50 house points this week. Well done to Lucy in 7SGR who has been awarded the Jack Petchey Achievement Award in her Girl Guides group. The battle for house points reaches its thrilling conclusion on Friday where we will announce the winning house and celebrate the numerous other achievements of Year 7 pupils in our end of term celebration assembly. Year 7 students should now complete the option form to select a subject from Dance, Computing, French, German or Spanish to be studied in one weekly lesson next year. Students were given information about each subject in an assembly but it would be wise to discuss the choice with your child to help them make an informed choice. As we approach the end of Year 7, I ask that parents help us maintain high standards by not allowing children to come to school wearing any makeup (particularly mascara) nor any jewellery other than plain stud earrings.
