Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Mana Moriarty is the new execu- tive director of the state’s Office of Consumer Protection. In his new role, Moriarty will serve as the consumer counsel for the State of Hawai‘i and represents and protects the state, coun- ties and general public as consum- ers. He joins OCP after serving in the Department of the Attorney General, where he represented Hawai‘i in lawsuits against opioid distributors and manufacturers, e-cigarette compa- nies and the federal government. Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship & Training Fund The Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship & Training Fund recently celebrated more than 180 new additions to the ranks of local journey- men, after the students completed a rigorous apprenticeship program that will help ensure an enduring pipe- line of labor for the local construction industry. More than 150 carpenters and 20 drywall workers took part in a recognition ceremony in Kapolei on May 20. HCTAF is a partner- ship between the Hawaii Regional Council of Carpenters, the General Contractors Labor Association, the Building Industry Labor Association, the Hawaii Wall and Ceiling Industry Association, the state and federal govern- ments, and the University of Hawai‘i. Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism Gov. Josh Green recently named James Tokioka the new director of the State Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism.
