It is a pleasure to welcome you to our 38th Annual Bar 69 Ranch Production Sale. Bull sale time is one of our favorite times of the year. We’re excited to catch up with customers and friends, meet new ones, and get to know more about your operation. Our goal is to make sure that these bulls go out and work for you and make your ranch profitable. As you study the EPD’s and data in this sale book, you can see that we are committed to raising cattle that are balanced. Our cattle are known for their maternal genetics, proven by the folks who’ve come back year after year. This is the most powerful and consistent set of bulls we have ever sold, with length, thickness, and natural fleshing ability. 70 bulls sell—the top out of 140 bull calves, and none are sold before the sale. You will like the 50 fancy replacement heifers! They are mates to the bulls and are all born and raised on our ranch. These heifers are feminine but powerful, and should raise a good calf and still breed back early. Our goal for our cow herd is that they will stay in the herd for many years. We try to achieve this through a combination of docility, fertility, performance, and phenotype. Bar 69 Ranch cows have to cover large pastures and hold their condition so they can succeed in breeding back early every year. Structural correctness is not something that we can afford to compromise on, so every year, we specifically select for good feet and legs. We believe that docility is extremely important, and our cattle are well known for being good to get along with and easy to work. The last key to profitability is performance. Once you get a cow to stay in your herd year after year, you need her to raise big, stout calves on prairie grass. Our steer calves (who didn’t get to become bulls) have averaged over 650 pounds the last three years. Customer service has been key for us the last 37 years. We strive to have happy customers that want to come back year after year. You are always welcome to come out to the ranch to observe our operation. We stand behind our bulls first breeding season, and do our best to personally keep in touch with all of our customers. With the current cattle market, it’s a great time to be in the business and quality is rewarded. We want to express our deep gratitude to you, our valued customers.
