#6 ON THE PSA REGISTRY 1962 TOPPS SET T he 1962 Topps issue is one of the company’s most difficult 1960s issues to collect, primarily because the faux-woodgrain borders of the cards are easily chipped and damaged with wear. The result is a preponderance of lower-grade cards, which are undeniably less attractive. Clean, sharp 1962 Topps cards, however, are beautiful, with the woodgrain borders offsetting the color images of the cards and creating one of the hobby’s more interesting designs. The set is filled with specialty cards, including All-Stars, World Series cards, statistical leaders, Babe Ruth highlights, and more. The condition challenge, coupled with the many difficult subsets, makes this a popular set among collectors. We are thrilled to offer one of the finest 1962 Topps sets ever
assembled, as of this writing, ranked #6 on the PSA Set Registry. No card grades below PSA NM-MT 8, with an astonishing 296 cards graded MINT 9, and five more graded NM-MT+ 8.5. For 235 of the cards represented here, there is no example in a higher PSA grade. For 59 more, there is just one higher-grade example. Recognizing the number of collectors chasing the set in high grade (more than 130 collectors have current sets registered, with several dozen complete or close to it), we have elected to offer the set as individual cards or in small lots. Some of these cards have not been offered in these grades for years. In other cases, collectors may never have another chance to purchase the cards in these grades. Regardless, we are thrilled to offer an incredible 1962 Topps complete set.
