From March 12 to March 16, we’ll be hosting a variety of activities to keep you busy all week long. Staff will lead educational mini-lessons each day at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will provide animal encounters each day at 11:30 a.m. We will also have ongoing outdoor games, craft activities and scavenger hunts all day long. Space at educational mini-lessons is limited, and preregistration is required to attend. Check the DFNC’s Facebook page for program details and the full schedule of events. NATURE EXPLORER DAYS Take a walk on the wild side during Nature Explorer Days at the DFNC! These drop-off day programs pack all the fun of week-long camp into just one day! Participants can expect to explore the natural world, meet live animals and learn a little bit along the way. Preregistration is required to attend. Additional program details will be sent to parents/guardians after they complete the registration process. NATURE WORKSHOP SERIES Nature Workshops are back at the DFNC! On select Saturday mornings, nature-loving adults can expand their brains over a fresh cup of coffee and nature lesson. Workshops will cover topics like pollinator gardening tips, practical camping gear and other nature-related subjects. Come early to take a tour of the nature center and meet other nature-loving adults. Preregistration is required to attend this program. Free coffee and pastries are provided by H-E-B. SEASONAL NATURE WORKSHOP – PRAIRIES FOR PORCHES
Prior to urban settlements, Pearland was packed full of prairies. Today, less than 1 percent of the historical coastal prairie ecosystem remains. During this seasonal nature workshop, participants will not only learn about Pearland’s rich ecological history and the action Pearland Parks & Recreation is taking to restore native prairies, but will also plant a prairie for their porch at home.
