ABOUT THE AUTHOR

MARIA CRISELDA G. GATCHALIAN-BADILLA, PH.D.

She is an associate professor at the University of the Philippines Asian Institute of Tourism with degrees of Bachelor of Science in Tourism (cum laude), Master of Arts in Communication Research, and Doctor of Philosophy in Communication, all from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Prior to teaching, she spent 15 years in the hotel industry and managed a global distribution company and an events management firm. She is also a tourism consultant and market specialist for the Department of Tourism, Tourism Promotions Board, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, National Economic Development Authority, and local government units for various tourism-related projects and plans. She has also published research articles and book chapters on her major research interests, including destination marketing and branding, digital tourism, and media.
