ABOUT THE AUTHORS
LYNN U. DONESA, PH.D.
She is an associate professor of tourism management at the Far Eastern University-Manila, where she held positions as a program head and an internship coordinator. She finished two doctoral degrees, one in Education Management and another in International Hospitality Management. She has presented research papers in the Philippines and abroad at conferences sponsored by the Asia Pacific Tourism Association and the Asia-Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education. She is a Certified Hospitality Professional by the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Professionals and holds national certificates in tour-guiding and events management services from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. She is a freelance travel agent and has extensive experience in the resort sector. She is a much sought-after consultant, thesis panelist, and speaker.
LILIBETH ARAGON, PH.D.
She is currently the dean of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila, College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management. She has an extensive background in the cruise line industry, having worked onboard various fleets of P&O Cruises UK for years. She has also contributed to the continuous improvement of training regulations and competency-based learning materials and assessments for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Dr. Aragon is also an accreditor for tourism, hospitality, and graduate programs of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). Dr. Aragon holds a bachelor’s degree in tourism, a master’s degree in business administration, and a doctoral degree in business administration from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Manila. She also holds a Higher Degree Certificate from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust of London. She is a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) and a trainer for an American-based company, American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. She also completed the Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP) course. She currently serves the Association of Administrators in Hospitality, Hotel, and Restaurant Management Educational Institutions (AAHRME1) as the Internal Vice President and the Philippine Association of Researchers for Tourism and Hospitality as a board member. Dr. Aragon is an ASEAN Master Trainer, the first batch to represent the Philippine delegation in the 2012 ASEAN Masters held in Bali, Indonesia.
ABOUT THE COORDINATOR
REIL G. CRUZ, PHD
He is an associate professor of tourism at the University of the Philippines Asian Institute of Tourism. He has authored four tourism books under Rex Book Store, Inc., drawing from his experiences as a consultant and as a researcher. He is engaged in formulating a master plan for the island of Samar, as well as in leading a project for sustainable livelihood in four remote island communities in Northeastern Mindanao. His most recent activities are in the areas of tourism regulation and overtourism in Boracay.
