Al Aghar Group had a series of other initiatives, such as the Al Shumaysi Project, which was branded with the slogan “ Connecting with the past while linking to present. ” The story behind this project dates back to the 1990s, when I joined Prince Abdul Majeed at the opening of the Haramain Exhibition in Makkah. After hearing about the exhibition, King Abdullah said: “Since this exhibition features the Haramain collection, it should be on the outskirts of Makkah in the Al Shumaysi area, so it can be accessible to Muslims and non- Muslims alike. It should be the largest Islamic museum in the world.” However, the study for this project was not carried out until Makkah was selected as the Capital of Islamic Culture.
The study, which was presented to King Abdullah by Prince Abdul Majeed, proposed developing four new villages, namely: [38]
