Gender and Society: A Human Ecological Approach is a module on gender and society, and can also serve as a material for human sexuality, gender studies, and other related courses. The module surveys various methodological, theoretical, and practical orientations in gender and sexuality. Using the human ecological lens, it approaches gender and sexuality from a transdisciplinary stance and allows learners to understand social realities using multiple disciplinal perspectives (e.g., biomedical, political–legal, and psychological–sociocultural). Most essentially, it equips learners with competencies required in investigating and analyzing cross-cutting issues in gender and society. ABOUT THE AUTHORS

ATTY. ERIC PAUL D. PERALTA

He is a lawyer by profession. He is an assistant professor at the Department of Human and Family Development Studies and the director of the University of the Philippines—Los Baños Gender Center. His specialization is in law, policy and program development, gender and development, and gender-based violence and sexual harassment. He provides technical assistance to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the aspect of addressing gender-based violence in state universities and colleges (SUCs), higher educational institutions (HEIs), and various government agencies.

NEPHTALY JOEL B. BOTOR

He is a values educator and psychometrician by profession, an assistant professor at the Department of Human and Family Development Studies, and the program head of its Pintig Adolescent Development Program at the University of the Philippines—Los Baños. His specialization is in counseling, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in emergency settings, and gender and sexuality. He provides technical assistance to government and nongovernment agencies in the aspects of gender and development (GAD), education, and mental health.

DR. TERI MARIE P. LAUDE

She is a medical doctor by profession. She is an assistant professor at the Department of Human and Family Development Studies and serves as the reproductive health officer of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños. Her expertise is in family medicine and sexual and reproductive health.
