The Contemporary World explores the practical, engaging, and relevant ways in which global structures and processes operate in our lives. It introduces and primarily discusses globalization to students in an accessible, appealing, and significant manner. As discussions on globalization have roots in different disciplines in the social sciences and in other fields of study, this exciting interdisciplinary orientation is reflected in the selection of various topics in this book. Further, meaningful definitions and theories are examined and enriched through process questions and activities. The transformation of the economic, political, social, and cultural aspects of people’s lives is also presented in this book. It is hoped that through this book, students will achieve and hone different competencies, skills, and values.
