Jordan Ali, Director of JA Lofts in Bromley Denym Stone, Joiner at True Build Ltd in Edinburgh 1 What can’t you do without in your toolbox? Jordan Ali: My portable speaker. Music is a great tool to keep the energy and the mood high on site. When we’re driving the tempo with some high-energy tracks, the work flows better, everyone’s focused, and we’re all motivated. It’s technically not a tool, but for team morale and productivity, it’s vital.

loft space with reclaimed and original materials – preserving the property’s soul and style. DS: I’d buy land close to Edinburgh but far enough away to have no neighbours. It makes you feel cool and motivates you to do more. m

Denym Stone: Simple. My tape measure. Because you never know when you’re going to need to measure something. 2 What’s your go- to radio station or favourite on-site song that gets everyone singing? JA: I love to put on a live DJ set on Soundcloud or Select. There’s nothing better than dance music with uplifting beats. The site atmosphere is

5 If you weren’t a builder or in construction, what would you do? JA: I’d be a pilot. I love to travel and I’m fascinated by the engineering of planes. DS: I’d be an MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter. I train in boxing and wrestling, but my preferred martial art is jiu-jitsu. I’ve been doing it for a couple of years, though balancing work and training is tough.
