MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN Finance Committee
Dear members and grassroots leaders, This is my second term as the Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee (FC), starting with Covid-19 as a pandemic and ending with Covid-19 as an endemic. The Covid-19 situation has been described as the most devastating catastrophe our country has ever encountered. We, not only as a Club but as an entire nation, suffered an unprecedented economic blow. During this time, I, together with my committee, have practised utmost prudence and conservatism in overseeing our financial and cash flow management especially in terms of budgeting and spending for two financial years. These efforts ensured that TGC could at least break even, if not have a slight cash surplus after factoring in all the grants from the government while excluding non-monetary factors like depreciation. In these trying times, TGC as a landlord has been supporting our loyal tenants especially all of our F&B units here with goodwill and empathy. Because at TGC, we truly value all our stakeholders and strive to fulfil our responsibility to the community. With further rental aid from People’s Association, we granted further assistance to our tenants on a case-by-case basis, in addition to the government-announced rental waivers. Now, the skies are finally clearing up.With Singapore’s reopening and the resumption of social and business activities after two long years, I am excited to welcome everyone back to join us for activities and social gatherings. Here’s hoping that life in TGC will return to full normalcy very soon.
