In this exclusive Q&A, author and teacher Pat Mann reflects on her lifelong journey with words—from handwritten Sunday School lessons to nationally published books—sharing the faith, challenges, and inspirations that continue to guide her writing. PAT MANN: A Journey of Faith and Words

What first sparked your interest in writing, and how did your journey as an author begin? My first interest in writing began in high school. I always did very well with writing assignments such as book reports. I once entered an essay contest sponsored by the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) on the use of alcohol, and my essay received top honors. I also began helping other students with their writing assignments. At sixteen, I became a Sunday School teacher and started writing all my own lessons rather than using preprinted materials. In college, I enrolled in Newswriting and enjoyed it thoroughly. Since then, I have occasionally submitted Christian-themed articles to the local newspaper under the column Pastor’s Corner, which I continue to this day. I enjoyed other college writing assignments such as term papers and always earned excellent grades—back when we still used typewriters, and corrections were messy! Later, I was assigned by the Women’s Missionary Union to write plans and lessons for a Christian children’s camp. That became my first nationally published work. My first book, Teacher Friendly Bible Lessons on Short Notice , came while I was serving as education director in a local church. On many
