Microsoft Word - Employee Handbook 2021-2022

Employees who serve in US military organizations or State militia groups may take the necessary time off without pay to fulfill the obligation, and will retain all of their legal rights for continued employment under existing laws. These employees may apply accrued personal leave and unused earned vacation time to the leave if they wish; however, they are not obliged to do so. Such employees are expected to notify their supervisor as soon as possible of training dates and temporary emergency call-ups so that arrangements can be made for replacement during this absence if necessary. Upon termination of the military service or training, an employee shall be reinstated by the School provided he/she reports for work within thirty (30) days of discharge.

SECTION 6 BENEFIT OVERVIEW

Levine Academy offers a benefits program for its regular full-time and regular part-time employees. However, the existence of these programs does not signify that an employee will necessarily be employed for the required time necessary to qualify for the benefits included in and administered through these programs. In addition, please be aware that Texas law does not require an employer to participate in offering vacation, sick, parental, bereavement or personal leave; however, once it is offered, Texas law does require that it be followed as outlined in the Employee’s Handbook. In addition, should an employer wish to offer any of the above listed leave policies, Texas law does not mandate whether or not that leave is to be a paid leave. Should the employer wish for their leave policies (some or all) to be paid, then Texas Payday Law will enforce any leave pay according to written policy outlined in the Employee’s Handbook. Should you have any questions regarding the below leave policies, ask Human Resources for an explanation. Your eligibility for each benefit program depends on a variety of factors, including your employee classification. While some of the benefit programs we offer may require you to contribute to the cost, many programs are fully paid by Levine Academy. Regular employees working more than 15 hours per week are eligible for many benefits. Some benefits, such as medical and dental insurance, are not available to employees working less than an average of 30 hours per week over a 52-week period. You will find details about many of these programs elsewhere in the employee manual. In some cases, a policy may also refer you to other sources, such as the Summary Plan Document for that benefit. To better understand exactly which benefit programs you are eligible for, contact Human Resources.
