TELECOMMUNICATIONS, OPTICS & PHOTONICS CONFERENCE

21 ST – 22 ND FEBRUARY 2024, LONDON, UK

Now in its third year, the Telecommunications, Optics and Photonics Conference (TOP) has become the go-to event for the optical communications industry. Developed in conjunction with Optical Connections, the conference provides excellent networking opportunities for optical and photonic component and systems manufacturers and developers, along with fibre infrastructure and data centre providers. It focuses on the development and application of optics and photonics in telecommunications and data centres, along with presentations on photonic components, free- space optics and quantum communications.

DAY ONE Starting with Plenaries from Harald Bock VP, Network Architecture at Infinera and Ben Puttnam from the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Day One of the conference will continue with a wide range of topics. Telecommunications will include a presentation on Integrating Hollow Core fibres with SMFs, by Professor Radan Slavik, from University of Southampton, along with talks from Martyn Fice, Associate Professor at University College London and Joerg- Peter Elbers, VP, Advanced Technology, Standards and IPR at Adtran. Running in parallel, the focus of Stream 2 will be Quantum Communications , featuring presentations on the Characterisation of Faint-Pulse-Sources for QKD and An Integrated Fibre and Satellite QKD Network Optimisation. The day will continue with streams on Photonic Components , which includes Pump Lasers for Optical Amplification in Telecommunication Network Design, Reliability and Applications and Very Small Fibre Optic Interconnect Solutions Supporting the Exponential Bandwidth Demand. The parallel stream on Free Space Optics will include a talk by Aston University’s David Benton on A Micromirror Array-Based Streak Camera for Multi-Channel, Multi-Spectral LIDAR. DAY TWO Day two kicks off with Plenaries from the Director of the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton Graham Reed and Dominic O’Brien from University of Oxford. These will

be followed by a Panel/Workshop with Andrew Lord, senior manager, Optical Research at BT Oriole Networks CEO James Regan, and Chris Davies, head of Commercial at CSA Catapult. In the afternoon, discussions will focus on Data Centres , including a presentation by Microsoft’s Patrick Anderson. Photonics for the RAN includes talks on Optical Fibre Fronthaul for the Disaggregated 6G RAN, by Professor Nathan Gomes from University College London, and Fixed Access Evolution Towards 6G Networks. The final sessions of the Conference will include Network Planning which will include presentations on Versatile Optical Network Planning, and an Accelerated Framework for Optical Communication System Design and Analysis. Meanwhile, the Telecommunications and Free Space Optics stream will include presentations on Heterogeneous Integration and Silicon Photonics: Enabling Optics at Scale; Fibre Optical Parametric Amplifiers for Optical Communications; Mode Division Multiplexing Technology: from Ground To Space; ending with a session on 3.52 Tbps Dynamic Demultiplexing of Low- loss Spatial Modes in Strong Turbulence Using Reconfigurable Photonics. Delegates can expect to hear from companies including Juniper Networks, BT, OpenLight Photonics and Huawei, along with representatives from the universities of Southampton, Bristol, Aston and Glasgow, and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. More presentations will be announced shortly, but although the deadline for submissions has now

passed, if you are still interested in getting involved at TOP Conference please email info@topconference.com and a member of the team will be in touch with you to discuss the available opportunities. POSTER SESSIONS If you are a PhD student interested in sharing your latest results and networking with industrialists and academics at TOP, please send a 150- word summary of your poster based on one of the session topic areas to submissions@topconference.com.
