April Campaign Essential Earth Day
Essential’s mission of providing natural resources for life extends far beyond our utility services. We are committed to improving our communities with the help of our dedicated team members.
A month-long celebration of volunteer events, donations and employee education opportunities across our water and natural gas segments.
2025 RESULTS:
Arts and Culture $137,763
Employees throughout our 9-state footprint participated in:
Cleanup efforts that collected 195 bags of litter and other debris from rivers, trails, and roadways
Donated $1.2M to environmental projects and STEM education
Planting initiatives that removed invasive weeds and installed more than 11,000 trees and native wildflowers to improve habitat and beautify public spaces

Gardening projects that constructed 160 raised beds for low-income families to grow their own produce

Since 2022, more than 1,800 employees have participated in 152 events , logging 6,400+ hours to support environmental causes. In total, Essential has donated $2.9M to protect natural resources and invest in a more sustainable future.

November Campaign Fall for Food Banks
Community partnerships are essential. Together with our partners, Essential leads a variety of targeted initiatives to keep our communities safe, healthy and thriving.
Our 5th annual Fall for Food Banks campaign was our largest to date, helping to meet increased food insecurity in our communities with collection drives, volunteer events, and donations through our Essential Foundation.

We awarded $186K in reforestation and water quality improvement projects through grant programs like our “Protect Your Drinking Water” and “Trees for Watersheds” initiatives — because protecting drinking water sources takes all of us working together.
We donated over $1M in grants to 38 local volunteer fire departments for equipment, training, and safety initiatives — supporting the heroes who protect our neighborhoods every day.

Eat, Drink, Help
Sure Splash
We brought together 20 local businesses and 20 nonprofits in our Peoples service area through our Eat, Drink, Help Program, which celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2025 — proving that good food and good causes make great partners.
Our Sure Splash program provided $76K in grants for swim lessons and water safety programs. Since launching in 2023, we’ve helped more than 1,000 children learn to swim, educated hundreds of adults about water safety, and helped train dozens of lifeguards.

Since 2021, 933 employees have volunteered 3,100+ hours at local food banks and pantries — reaching 112,000+ people facing food insecurity — while the Essential Foundation has donated more than $1.3M to hunger-relief organizations.
