The Six Scooters
Scratch! As I hopped off the scooter, I could hear the sound of the brakes scratching the asphalt roads. “Woah!” I exclaimed. “That was so close!”
“Right?!” Lexi yelled. “Let’s go again!” After catching our breath, we raced up the steep, pale brown, bumpy driveway, then down again because we forgot our scooters. “I’m tired” I panted.
“Me too.” she responded. “Do you still want to go?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I reassured her, although it was hard to walk. “Hey,” I stated. “What would happen if I used your little sister’s scooter?” “I dunno.” she mumbled. “You can try, the scooters are in the garage.” After figuring out the code for the garage door, I ducked under the opening door and looked around. There were gloves, clothes, stuff that’s been there for 2 years and basketballs. It was like being in a storage closet that hadn’t been emptied for years. The scooters were stuffed in a corner, lined up. A few minutes later, I came out.
“Lexi, why do you have so many scooters?” I questioned. She walked quickly into the garage, wondering what I was talking about.
“Hmmmmm. I never noticed that.” Lexi stated. “Woah, that is a lot. One, two, three, four, five, six. Six scooters!” “Really?” I wondered out loud. “I guess.” she responded. We both burst out laughing. This story is one of my favorite memories. I guess it reminds me of the things Lexi and I used to do before I moved. Akira Schwartz, 4 grade th
