Opening my Head! “BANG!” My head smacked into the bleachers. “Ow!!” I stood up too fast before I got out from under the bleachers. I was playing hide and seek and hit my head. “Are you okay?” Coach Steinberg, also the gym teacher, asked. “I don’t think so,” I replied, holding back tears. I felt like my head was going to split open. I could hear the sound of children’s feet hitting the ground as they ran past me, and my stomach felt like it was going to burst. The gym teacher hurried to his office to call my parents and told them what happened. I waited not knowing what happened to me. Then my parents hurried to come and took me to urgent care to get stitches. It was my first time I was pretty scared because it was my first time opening my head. A few weeks later the nurses at urgent care that put on my stitches removed the stitches because my head had finally healed, but it was very painful. They had to pour hot water on the liquid bandage to remove them. I learned a great lesson that day. No matter how badly I want to chew some old gum under the bleachers, I will resist the urge to grab it. Refael Rubinsky, 4 grade th
