Why Giraffe has a Long Neck
Long long ago giraffe did not have a long neck. In fact, Giraffe had a short neck. Giraffe was sad all the time because no one wanted to help her reach the high branches. Giraffe had no friends except Zebra, who was Giraffe’s only friend. Every animal in the safari had their own special thing except for Giraffe. Giraffe was the only animal without a special thing. Zebra had stripes. Lion had a mane. Monkey could swing from tree to tree, but poor giraffe could do nothing. One day in the safari Giraffe was walking and stopped by the bees and asked. “Hello Bees, may I have some honey? I am very hungry.” To Giraffe’s surprise, the bees joyfully replied, “Yes. Yes you may have some honey.” So when Giraffe stuck her head in the hole and tried some honey she beamed, “This is the most delicious thing I have ever had in my whole life.” When Giraffe tried to get out, her head was stuck in the hole. She yelped, “Help help! My head is stuck in the hole! Please help!” But noone came to help. So she stayed there day after day until Lion came. Lion could not get Giraffe out! Lion went to get Zebra. Zebra and Lion both tried to get Giraffe out. It was not working. So they went to go get the Monkeys. Lion, Zebra and the Monkeys pulled and pulled but it did not work. So they tried pulling harder and harder until Giraffes NECK got stretched. They realized that they pulled so hard that they stretched Giraffe’s neck out. So when Giraffe realized they stretched her neck out, she cried “Hooray!” They did not understand why Giraffe was so happy. Giraffe thanked them, “Thank you guys very much!” Zebra asked, “Why are you so happy, Giraffe?” “You guys helped me get out of the bee’s hole and give me this long neck! Now I have a special thing!” So, from that day on Giraffe could reach high branches and had a special thing! So that is why Giraffe has a long neck.
