Edale, a Canon company and manufacturer of flexographic printing and converting equipment, welcomed packaging professionals from across the UK to its Rethinking Carton Production Open Day, a one-day
upcoming Labelexpo Europe trade fair. The event welcomed 170 participants from 16 countries. A New Chapter Tom Cavalco, Vice President International Sales at Mark Andy, emphasized in his wel- come speech that the open house symbol- ized the start of a new chapter for Mark Andy’s operations in the EMEA region. The meeting gathered numerous customers, partners and media representatives specializing in nar- row-web printing from Europe, the Americas and Asia. The event’s program was primarily designed to showcase technological capabil- ities of modern label and packaging produc- tion in practice. Several production lines are permanently installed at the center, showcasing technolo- gies implemented by Mark Andy in its flexog- raphic and digital/hybrid presses, along with finishing solutions. Live demonstrations of Mark Andy presses were conducted by Antony Cotton, European Sales Manager, and Lukasz Kaczynski, Demo Room Manager. The event featured the Euro- pean premiere of Performance Series S9 flexo press integrated with a Rotoflex VLI rewinder.

The day included insights from guest speakers Steve Lister, glob- al sustainability strategist, and Jo Stephenson, Managing Director of Think B2B Marketing, who shared perspectives on industry change, in- novation, and the evolving role of packaging. Stephenson also moder- ated an Open Forum which produced insights into the future of carton production and the issues it faces. “The aim of this event was never just to showcase technology, it was to start a conversation,” said Louise Bailey, Head of New Business at Edale. “We know the carton market is evolving quickly, and this was a chance to bring people together, share honest insights, and explore the realities of what the next phase of production might look like. ” The Open Forum saw discussions on the misconceptions of sin- gle pass flexo carton production and its possibilities. Several attend- ees acknowledged that flexo is still, in some circles, seen as inferior
