Founders Day
On January 5th, Maria Regina High School celebrated the founding of our school by commemorating the 133rd Anniversary of the Founding of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection. This special day began with our First Friday Liturgy in the school Gymnasium. Sister Teresa Grace Baillargeon, CR was our special guest who partook in our “Nothing is Impossible for God” speaker series. After Mass, a reception followed in the Maria Regina Convent for alumnae and friends where the Branca Family generously donated their family piano in memory of Mr. Angelo Branca (P’83, ‘93 & GP ‘21) and former Principal, Sr. Danielle Marie Baran, C.R.
Giving Day
On February 15th and 16th, Maria Regina held its 24-hour Annual Giving Day campaign which was shared on all our social media platforms. This day gave our students, faculty, alumnae, and parents an opportunity to showcase their love for Maria Regina. Two of our students, Chloe Martinez’24 and Gabriella Ruby’24, went to the CBS News Studio in NYC to kick off Giving Day with CBS Morning News anchor Mary Calvi ’87. We appreciate your generous support as together we continue Maria Regina’s legacy of educating young women since 1957. Thank you for taking the time to make an impact on the MRHS community and supporting our school where leadership blooms.

Father Daughter Dance
On Friday, January 26th, Maria Regina High School students from all grades danced the night away at the Ties and Tiaras Father-Daughter Dance. The girls shared lots of laughs, dances, and delicious food with their fathers, father figures, or grandfathers at Davenport Shore Club. A special thank you to members of the newly formed Parents Club

Accepted Students night
MRHS welcomed the Class of 2028 on Thursday, February 1st. Parents and Future Tigers learned more about our academic programs, service opportunities, athletics, student life and other exciting opportunities that await them next September. Our guest speakers shared different perspectives on love for Maria Regina, whether they are alumna, parents or friends of Maria Regina. We look forward to meeting our future tigers and for them to join our Tiger Family!
Freshman PJS & Pizza
The incoming Class of 2028 enjoyed an evening of music and camaraderie at our first PJ’s and Pizza Night hosted by the members of Student Council. It was a great way for our newest Tigers to get to know one another and also meet current students, including their future Senior sisters.
NAHS Cookie Wars
National Art Honor Society celebrated Valentine’s Day by decorating fresh heart-shaped sugar cookies. Their talent in visual art was expressed through this fun experience in culinary art. Our talented artists put their decorating skills to the test and did not disappoint! Congratulations to the winner of this year’s Cookie Wars - Freshman Sydney Harker ‘27
Scholarship
Milan Grace Hood ‘24 Receives Recognition at the Westchester MLK Youth awards Congratulations to Milan Grace Hood '24 on being honored by the African American Men of Westchester at the 23rd annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards! Milan was recognized for her volunteerism and dedication to social justice and was awarded a $2,500 scholarship for her efforts.
We are so proud of Milan for truly encapsulating one of Maria Regina’s three pillars: a selfless passion for serving others.
Engineering Tomorrow Lab
Ms. Caban's Environmental Science classes took part in Engineering Tomorrow’s Clean Water Lab. As a non-profit organization offering interactive virtual engineering labs, we are grateful to the team at Engineering Tomorrow for engaging our students as they learned about water accessibility and constructed their own multimedia filters to filter dirty water.
Pace University Nursing Program Visit MRHS students were invited to spend the morning at Pace University to explore programs in the Nursing and Health Fields. Students gained hands-on experience through various activities and workshops at the nursing center on campus. This trip gave students an insight into college student life and nursing education.
Annual Sports Media Summit
Our Tigers attended the 12th Annual Sports Media Summit at Temple University. Our students explored various areas of careers in the sports industry. They were able to take advantage of a Q&A session with Brooklyn-born Billy King, former General Manager of the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers.
Our students also enjoyed hearing stories and advice from female news women covering NFL teams Carly Macitti(ABC5 in Cleveland), Alexa Ross (CBS4 in Indianapolis), Lindsey Mopper(NBC2 in Buffalo), and ESPN news anchor Nicole Briscoe!
Service
We celebrated Catholic School’s Week by putting FAITH into ACTION. Our Tigers took on engaging and inspiring service initiatives throughout the week.
Sister to Sister
Catholic Schools Week kicked off with the first service initiative, “Sister for a Sister.” Students created Valentine's Day cards to be delivered to retired sisters residing in local assisted living facilities. It was an honor to send messsages of love and appreciation to the women who have given their lives to serving God and His people.
Breakfast Runs Continue
Our Tigers collected donations for our monthly Campus Ministry’s Breakfast Runs. Providing a sense of warmth & comfort, students brought in donations of clothes and toiletries to be delivered to those in need in New York City.
Supporting schools
Students held a bake sale during all lunch periods, raising funds to financially assist the International Catholic Schools led by the Sisters of the Resurrection.
Diaper Drive
Students donated diapers and baby wipes which were delivered to Birthright of Peekskill, an organization that provides care, non-judgment love, and support to pregnant women in crisis.
Cooking for CSA
Ms. Tomas and the Peace Project Club partnered with Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon to provide food to those in need. Our students cooked fresh pasta and salads in our kitchen to help provide food for the hungry and put a smile on their faces with hand-written thoughtful cards.
Coat Drive
The Science National Honor Society hosted a Coat Drive to support Westchester residents in need. Students brought in old and new coats which were donated to One Warm Coat, a non-profit organization that provides free coats to children and adults.

Celebrating the Lenten season at Maria Regina through prayer, fasting, and giving.
Ash Wednesday Prayer Service
Students and Faculty celebrated the beginning of Lent by receiving ashes in a thoughtful student-led prayer service. Continuing in our mission of service to others, students learned about the CRS Rice Bowl to kick off the season of prayer, fasting, and giving.
Reconcilation
Our students continue to celebrate the Lenten season with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. While waiting to receive confession, our students took this time to reflect and pray. We continue to be thankful to the Clergy for their generosity as they serve our school community.
Senior Retreat As one of the many traditions leading up to their Graduation on May 31st, the Senior Class took on a spiritual journey during their overnight retreat at the Don Bosco Retreat Center. As a class, they participated in various exercises, working together as a team and solidify their bond as a class. The Seniors enjoyed sharing their love for Jesus and one another through prayer, dancing, and singing. With time to reflect on their past actions and how to grow to be a better person and one with God, the Senior class bonded like never before. Thank you Don Bosco for hosting this enlightening and uniting experience.
Pasta making class
Dr. Ponziani and the Italian Club hosted a pasta-making event on Monday, February 12th. Students invited their grandmothers and mothers to teach everyone how to make pasta. The Nonnas demonstrated and helped the students make many different kinds of pasta. The school community came together to share their love for food and the Italian culture. Once our students finished making their pasta, they were able to take it home and eat some delicious fresh food with their friends and family.
The Arts
Mamaroneck Guild 2024 student art show
Mamaroneck Artists Guild's annual Art exhibit “Young Artists on the Rise” featured the work of nine students from Maria Regina High School. Students art that were featured in the exhibit were Carmella Alcantara, Sofia Constantino, Sarah Harmon, Ariela Franco, Ava Magaletti, Keitumetse Rankoe, Isabella Lukic, Isabella Scheeberg, and Charlotte Tsypin. These students were praised for their beautiful artwork and overall dedication to the arts. This achievement helps inspire our artists to grow their talent and passion.
Field Trip to Center for Italian Modern art
Dr. Ponziani’s Italian Four class visited the Center of Italian Modern Art to attend the exhibit, “Transatlantic Bridges”. The exhibition showcased the world of Italian-Jewish artist Corrado Cagli, who fell from unrest in Italy for America in 1938. Our students learned about how Cagli expressed his then-developing Italian-American identity through drawings, paintings, collages, photos, and more.

Bryanna being awarded All League Cheerleader
Congratulations to Junior flyer, Bryanna Kurys on being awarded All-League Cheerleader for CHSSA! A member of the National Honor Society, Bryanna embodies the title of “Student-athlete” with great pride.
UCA Nationals
Congratulations to our Cheerleaders for making it to the Semi-Finals with zero deductions at UCA Nationals in Orlando Florida this past February!
Basketball Varsity’s Senior Game
On February 15th, we celebrated our Varsity Basketball seniors on their amazing hard work and dedication this year. Congratulations to Isabella Fino, Neive Connaughton and Genevieve Jacobi!

MRHS Alumnae share special honors at this year’s City of Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade Moira Merrigan Kiernan ‘79 has been named Grand Marshal of the City of Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Kiera O’Connor ‘15 will serve as one of her aides. “Meet us on McLean” on Sunday, March 24th to march alongside their alma mater. Meet you there!
