It would seem this is the correct view, otherwise Scripture would not have used the phrase, “She knew not a man,” if she were dead. Q . San Jose, California — “What proof do you have that the church will not go through the tribulation?” A. There is perhaps more agitation on the part of theologians on this subject than on almost any other. Why any one is anxious to go through this terri ble time of God’s wrath is hard to understand. Paul says that we are “to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” (I Thessalonians 1:10). The definite article is given concerning the wrath to come. This is vividly illustrated in Revelation 6. During this time the Church is in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ. We should be practical and ask ourselves, “Why should the last generation of Christians go through the tribulation? Are they any better or any worse than believers of other ages?” Let us recall again, for added emphasis, that the tribulation is a time of God’s wrath being poured out upon an unbelieving, Christ-rejecting world. Q , San Diego, California — “I’ve lost my zest for living and am bored with life. It seems to me that many people feel the same way. What can I do to over come this?” A. There are many unsaved people who are bored with life. This is evident on every hand. People run to this amusement and then to that one. They indulge in this type of recreation and then in that type. They are trying to find something which will satisfy them. While this is the condition of the world, it is not necessarily true of the Christian. For believers, dissatisfaction comes when we think about ourselves. If our minds are stayed on what we are doing and our own problems, we will be distressed and confused. We

The Word of God assures us, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee.” Forget about your own worries and about conditions in which you find yourself. Get into the service of the Lord in your own local church. Make sure that it is a God-honoring church and one that preaches the glorious Gospel message of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Find something to do there. There are plenty of jobs for those who are will ing to work. Get lost in the service of the Saviour. Q . Eugene, Oregon — “Do you believe in the total depravity of man? I find it hard to believe when I see so much good in people who make no claim to any righteousness. And still, those who claim to be righteous seem to be so far from it.” A. As an individual looks around and sees some good philanthropic service, or merely finds a good neighbor, this doesn’t appear to be total depravity. But don’t equate this to be equivalent with a person’s being as morally bad as possible and never doing anything acceptable. The doctrine of total de pravity is most certainly taught in the Scriptures. Genesis 6:5, “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagina- 22
