The historic 1833 President’s House was transformed into a centralized facility with event spaces, gathering rooms and suites for alumni and families of current students. A new stone terrace and main entrance were designed to blend into the historic facade. The first floor now serves as a reception area with interactive, multipurpose programming spaces. The second and third floors were renovated to include luxury guest rooms with en suite bathrooms, and a conference suite with advanced interactive virtual-meeting technology. The historic residence now links the college’s past and its future. The design interjects modern elements while maintaining the elegance of the historical character. DMR Architects provided a holistic program integrating innovative planning, public project procurement, architecture, and development practices to deliver an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing design that includes expansive windows and a large skylight, a passive outdoor area that activates nearby restaurants and supports multiple municipal functions. The move paved the way for the former Borough Hall location to galvanize the Borough’s main thoroughfare through new development.
