WHY WE GIVE
JULIE & MICHAEL ZIMMERMANN
Tori (‘25), Michael, Julie & Jordan (‘22) Zimmermann
What inspires you to give to Levine? Levine Academy has felt like home to us since the very first day our oldest child started school here. From the beginning, it was a place that felt familiar, welcoming, and comfortable. We give to the school so that other families can experience that same sense of belonging and community. What do you hope your children learn from your philanthropic giving? We hope our children discover the same joy in giving that we do. By leading through example, sharing our experiences, and involving them in the process, we aim to help them feel connected to and proud of the impact they are making alongside us. How have the teachers at Levine impacted your family? The teachers at Levine feel like family—to us and to our children. Even three years after graduating, our oldest still lights up when she sees a former teacher. They are more than educators; they are mentors and role models who have helped shape the people our children are today.
Why is it important to you to give to areas that you see as the greatest need in the school? We believe in giving with trust—confident that school leadership will put our support to its best use. For us, it’s important to help where the need is greatest, whatever and wherever that may be, because those areas are essential to the school’s continued success. Do you have any advice for someone considering a gift to Levine in the future? I would encourage them to give where the school needs it most at the time. Trust the administrators and leaders to guide your gift toward the areas where it will have the greatest impact. This year the Zimmermanns chose to give $400,000 to enable the school to replace all of the underground plumbing, an important project to ensure our school is in great shape for our students for years to come!
