INSTALLATION + MAINTENANCE Pyro + Echo recommend that all products are laid by qualified and trained professionals with proven experience, using appropriate tools and equipment. The surface to be tiled must be rigid, sound, fat, clean and impermeable. Surfaces should also be chemically compatible with the chosen adhesive or mortar that has been selected to lay the tiles. Due to the low porosity of the products, the specified or supplied adhesive or mortar must be checked for suitability. High technical, mechanical and chemical specifications are desired. Pyro + Echo strongly recommend that they are called to help with the specification of surface and preparation of it, the adhesive and grout composition and use of expansion joints etc. All structural joints must be taken into account. Installers must include the required number of expansion and movement joints as set out by the relevant industry standards or body. For optimal installation results, Pyro + Echo recommend the creation of a minimum of a 2/3mm grout joint or gap to simplify the laying and optimise the final effect. Pyro + Echo decline all responsibility where tiles are laid without joints. Once the tiles have been grouted and any excess grout has been cleaned off, it is important to wait until the tiled surface is completely dry before commencing a final clean. Pyro + Echo recommend waiting a minimum of 5 days. Newly tiled surfaces must be protected from water and damp whilst the adhesive, mortar and grout are curing. Finished tiles surfaces should be protected against any mechanical damage resulting from subsequent works by other professionals or later installations. Pyro + Echo recommend the use of protective sheeting and edge protection strips. For the final clean of the tiled surface, any products used should be compatible with the chemical resistance of the tiles. Solid and abrasive detergents, scrubbers and scrapers must not be used to clean the tiled surface as these can cause irreversible damage to the tiles. The use of protective waxes, oils or similar products is not recommended. Daily maintenance can be carried out using warm clean water, soft sponge, mop or cloth and a low alkaline based detergent or neutral soap if needed.
