NON SURGICAL INSTRUMENTATION ADVANCED
Advanced instrumentation for non-surgical periodontal therapy PART 1 THEORETICAL PART • Basic concepts of root anatomy in perio disease and fulcrums • Use of periodontal explorers • Characteristics of scalers; universal curettes; Graceys: After Fives, Mini Fives, Biogent; hoes PART 2 PRACTICE ON TYPODONTS • Clinician positioning around the patient • Intraoral fulcrums and extraoral fulcrums • Implementation of periodontal explorers • Implementation of: universal curettes; Graceys: After Fives, Mini Fives, Biogent; hoes on periodontally compromised typodont models
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The objective of the course is to develop the students‘ knowledge of advanced non- surgical periodontal hand instrumentation in periodontally compromised clinical settings. The use of curettes and scalers (scaling and root-planing techniques) for periodontal debridement in diseased periodontal anatomy. At the end of the seminar, the students will be able to recognize and choose hand instruments like scalers, universal curettes, area-specific curettes (Graceys) and hoes for advanced instrumentation in periodontal defects (deep perio pockets, furcations) and how to implement them on typodont models.
