Superintendent, Tempe Union High School District Dr. Stacia Wilson
D r. Wilson has dedi- cated twenty-seven years to serving the Tempe and Phoenix communities as an educator and mentor. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English Secondary Education from Hampton University, a Mas- ter’s degree from Northern Arizona University (NAU), and a doctorate in Educa- tional Leadership from NAU. Dr. Wilson began her high school teaching career in 1997 as an English teacher at Desert Vista High School, Tempe Union High School District (TUHSD). In 2007, she was promoted to an administrative role at Tempe High School. Under her leadership, Tempe High School received an ‘A’ rating from the Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona Education Foundation’s A+ School of Excellence Award. In 2018, Dr. Wilson became the Associate Superintendent of TUHSD, overseeing daily
Strategic Plan. In August 2023, Dr. Wilson was appointed Acting Super- intendent by the TUHSD Governing Board an in December 2023, she was unanimously voted in for a permanent appointment beginning in July 2024. Dr. Wilson is a member of the Phoenix Chapter of the Links Incorporated, The Phoenix Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, and the Scottsdale Chapter of Smart Set. In her nearly thirty years serving the Tempe and Phoenix communities as an educational leader and mentor to young people, her commitment to fostering educational and leadership opportunities is evident through her initiatives and partnerships. Her collaboration with community leaders to host a Links to Success mentoring event where she connected Black professionals, from various backgrounds and careers, with high school students who were facing

a number of academic and behavior challenges during the school year. A notable contribu- tion was the creation of a partnership between Tempe Union High School District and the Delta Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, which facilitated an annual Historically Black College and University (HBCU) event for students and families in Tempe Union and neighboring districts. Dr. Wilson played a pivotal role as a planning participant and keynote speaker at the 2019 Annual African American Sym- posium, a collaborative effort between Maricopa
Community Colleges and the Tempe Union High School District. She also served as the chairperson for the Young Leaders Protege Program through the Phoenix Chapter of the Links Incorporated. As Superintendent, Dr. Wilson is dedicated to creating systems that guarantee students from all backgrounds have access to high-quality educational programs, curricula, and experiences. She was the 2024 recipient of the Ari- zona Commission of African American Affairs Unsung Hero Education Pillar Award, and has received sev- eral recognitions and awards for her work and service. ♦
