G aylord A. Taylor (Chi 1986) entered the Chapter Invisible on May 14, 2023. Known as Alexander, Gaylord Alexander Taylor was born on November 12, 1965, in Brooklyn, NY, to Oswald Taylor and Carmen Taylor( née Francis). He was the second of three siblings, including Ingrid and Jayson. He was raised in Brook- lyn until the Taylor family relocated in 1977 to Hollis

Regents diploma and being accepted at Boston College in 1983, Taylor took a one- year to serve in Sierra Leone as part of the Peace Corps. While in Sierra Leone, he worked on water projects and met lifelong friends before returning to the United States to start his college career. Taylor attended Boston College, where he was a vol- unteer mentor for students
Queens. He attended the competitive Brooklyn Technical High School and played Pop Warner foot- ball. Like his siblings and cousins, Taylor pitched in to
support the family business at Hillcrest Foods & Deli situated along the border of Brooklyn’s Bed Stuy and Crown Heights neighbor- hoods. After earning his
