Lance E. Yarbrough 2004-2025 College Student
of color and an organizer of the Black Student Forum. He also taught track at a local high school, was a member of the Cross Coun- try, Karate club, and debate team, and in 1988, he was a winner of the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship. In 1989, Taylor earned a B.S. degree in philosophy in 1989, then earned a M.S. in architecture from UCLA in 2000. He returned to the East Coast in 2004, worked as an architect for BRP, and remained active in the family real estate firm Wilkarm Equities. During his life, he became an accomplished poet, actor, and playwright. In the 1990s he wrote an episode of the popular series the X Files. In 2017, he moved to Philadel- phia where he continued to work in real estate by designing and renovating the home he lived in until shortly before his death. Brother Gaylord A. Taylor was preceded in death by his father. He leaves behind his mother, Carmen, Jayson (Mari- ama Todd), son Joshua LaChance (Ariel Walcott), and niece Brittany Chiles (Michael Daniels). He also leaves his siblings and a score of beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins to cherish his memory. ♦
L ance E. Yarbrough (Iota Tau 2024) entered the Chapter Invisible on February 14, 2025, at 21, after a coura- geous fight with a rare and aggressive cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. Lance Evan Yarbrough was born in El Dorado, AR, on February 7, 2004, and the youngest son of Larry D. and Shanell “PJ” Yarbrough. He also received multiple scholarships. As a child, he was active at the Boys and Girls Club, playing basketball and All-Star baseball. He was a Peewee Football quarter- back on a championship team and was named MVP. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 2022, receiving tuition through the El Dorado Promise. While attending high school, he also played on an AAU basketball team. He was in the band, took Advanced Placement classes, and participated in the Gifted and Talented Program. Later, he played more basketball and was

on another championship junior high football team. He wrote articles for the High School newspaper. He also served on the Steering Committee. His passion was Track and Field and he was part of history, a State Sweep, becoming 5A State Cham- pions. He represented the Track Cats and com- peted in the state-wide Decathlon. He attended the Uni- versity of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. Initially, he majored in Apparel and Product Merchandising but later switched to English and creative writing and maintained an impressive 3.6 GPA. He engaged in intramural sports and various activities. He had
a summer internship at Your Grandpa’s Vintage and another retail posi- tion, gaining invaluable experience in the fashion industry. He confessed his faith at a young age under the guidance of his father and pastor, Larry D. He was a member of Changing Lives Ministries Church. He enjoyed attending church and was enthusiastically involved in the youth department. Brother Lance Yarbrough is survived by his parents, sibling Larry Jr. (L.J.), paternal grandparents Larry W. and Jessie Yarbrough, maternal grandmother Marsheill Finley, and a host of relatives and close friends. ♦
