BUILDING MOMENTUM TOGETHER Priorities for Our Sales Organization

As many of you know, I recently stepped into the Director of Sales role. I’m excited for the opportunity to work alongside all of you as we continue building momentum across our company. Franklin Building Supply has always been successful because of the people in the company: our teams in the yards, on job sites, in production, on the sales floor, and all the people behind the scenes supporting our customers every day. In this new role, one of my main goals is to help strengthen alignment across departments, improve how we serve our customers, and continue positioning our teams for growth. Over the coming months, a major focus will be on bringing greater clarity, structure, and support to our sales organization while continuing to work closely with our operations, manufacturing, and installation teams. When our teams are aligned and communicating well, we put ourselves in the best position to serve our customers and support each other. Investing in Sales Leadership, Development, and Margin Discipline One of the things I’m focused on this year is continuing to invest in our sales leadership and development within our sales teams. Building strong leaders and creating depth within our organization is important to our long-term success. That means continuing to emphasize mentorship, training, and opportunities that help our people grow professionally while strengthening the company as a whole.

Part of that development includes reinforcing margin discipline and value-based selling. Our teams work incredibly hard to deliver quality products, reliable service, and strong operational support to our customers, and it’s important that the value of that work is reflected in how we price and structure our deals. Because we are an employee-owned company, the decisions we make for pricing, margins, and profitability impact all of us. Maintaining healthy margins allows us to continue investing in our people, our facilities, and the tools we need to serve our customers, while also strengthening the long-term value of the company we collectively own. By continuing to develop strong sales leadership and reinforcing sound business practices, we can grow in a way that supports our customers and the long-term success of our employee owners. Supporting Sustainable Growth We have tremendous opportunity in the markets we serve, and with that opportunity comes the responsibility to grow in a way that supports our operations and our teams. One of my priorities will be making sure our growth aligns with the capabilities of our yards, manufacturing, installation departments, and support teams so we can continue delivering consistently for our customers. Creating and Systemizing Customer Rebates Another area of focus this year will be creating a more structured and consistent approach

to how we manage customer rebates across the company. Over time, different agreements and conversations with customers have developed across teams, and in some cases, that has led to overlapping commitments or situations where we unintentionally give away more than we intended. My goal is to help systemize how rebates are structured and communicated, improving visibility and consistency across the organization. This will help reduce confusion internally, prevent unintended “double dipping,” and ensure incentives are applied in a way that is fair, transparent, and aligned across teams. Again, because we are an employee-owned company, managing these incentives responsibly is important for all of us. The margins we protect and the discipline we maintain directly contribute to the long- term strength and value of the company we all share ownership in. Creating a more consistent system for rebates will help us continue supporting our customers while also protecting the value our teams create. The strength of Franklin has always come from the people who work here and the ownership we all share in the company’s success.

–Dirk Redfern Director of Sales

HIGH FIVES!

SAFE From: Leonel Carrillo, Pocatello Window Delivery/Service To: Jonathan Ortiz, Pocatello Window Delivery/Service He picked up a 2x4 that was a tripping hazard. We certainly appreciate team members who take the initiative to identify and correct safety issues; our goal is to prevent these hazards from occurring in the first place. Keeping walkways and work areas clear should always be a standard expectation. By maintaining clean, organized spaces, we help ensure a safer environment for everyone. EASY

WOW From: Melissa Mallory, Burley Outside Sales To: Tyler Cutler, Boise Inside Sales

Recently, I was trying to get products to Burley for a customer through one of our vendors, but it had been quite a struggle. The products were sent to the wrong locations via UPS twice and finally sent to Franklin, but somehow ended up in Boise rather than Burley. The rep was going to drive to Boise to pick them up, but Boise couldn’t find them. I called, hoping to find someone to keep looking, and Tyler answered the phone. Even though he was busy, he kept looking until he found the products, mistakenly stashed on an employee’s desk. He called to let me know and said he’d have them waiting for the rep. When the rep couldn’t make it before closing due to 5 p.m. traffic, Tyler volunteered to stay after closing to make sure I could get my customer what they needed the next day as promised. Thank you, Tyler! GUIDE From: Jordan Green, Pocatello To: Austin Burrup, Pocatello Austin has been training multiple new inventory controllers — Michele in the door shop and Devyn in the yard — simultaneously. I’m impressed with how he has managed training for both positions while continuing to keep up with his own duties. Great job, Austin!

From: Ben Thomas, McCall To: Jared Tolomei, McCall

We decided to move on from a certain product line and wanted to get our inventory moved out quickly. Jared navigated some tricky situations with a customer very tactfully to get them to take everything we had in one fell swoop. Thanks, Jared! High five! STRIVE From: Jeff, Pocatello

To: Michele Nelson, Pocatello Door Shop Michele has been doing a great job as the Door Shop Inventory Controller. There are no past-due door codes in the Past Due Cycle Count report. That is Awesome! Great Job!

HR CORNER You’ve Earned It. Use It Well.

Thereʼs a reason seasoned travelers come home looking better than when they left. Time away from work — real time, unplugged and unhurried with the people who matter most — doesnʼt just feel good. It restores focus, reduces burnout, and makes you more effective when you return. Research consistently confirms what most of us already know intuitively: employees who take regular vacations are more engaged, more productive, and less likely to leave. Thatʼs why we built our time off policy the way we did.

YOUR PTO BENEFIT AT A GLANCE Full-time employees receive 7 paid holidays per year after 30 days of employment, and begin accruing discretionary PTO from day one: 2 Weeks Years 1–4 3 Weeks Years 5–9 4 Weeks Year 10+

Your PTO doesnʼt have to be taken all at once. Many employees spread time off throughout the year — a long weekend, a mid-year family trip, or a few scattered days. However you use it, coordinate with your leadership team ahead of time to ensure proper coverage. Your current accrual balance and time off request tool are both easily accessed in Paylocity. Reach out to HR with questions. We’re glad to help.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS | EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

FRANKLIN BUILDING SUPPLY

Remembering Erick Wadsworth A Franklin hero who lived and breathed this company for over 25 years You know it by now. Franklin Building Supply is 50 years old! Weʼre marking that accomplishment all year long and as we celebrate this quintessential American success story, we should shine the spotlight on people who played a role in getting us to this milestone. One Franklin hero was Erick Wadsworth. Erick lived and breathed Franklin every day for over half of the life of this company. He came to the company in 1991 to work in the Boise door shop. By the time he retired at the end of 2016, Erick had left an indelible mark on the company. Most folks familiar with Erick would call him a born salesman. Itʼs true he was drawn to sales, and he was very good at that honorable profession. To get a true picture of Erick, however, you have to know that Erick was drawn to people. He loved teaching, coaching, collaborating. Selling was a byproduct of what Erick truly loved doing – helping people.

Erick and his wife at a Franklin company event

As the sales manager for the Treasure Valley, and later for the company, Erick worked to make the sales staff better at listening to and helping our customers, which led to more sales. In his final acts before retirement, Erick took on two remarkable projects. He built from the ground up our first company-wide comprehensive training program. Then he wrote the first, and to this date the only, history of FBS. That later project required interviewing more than 100 current and former employees and customers. In those two acts, we see Erick Wadsworth at his core – one working to help people improve themselves and the other to honor the people and history of the company he loved. Erick would undoubtedly be enjoying this 50th year of FBS, but Erick passed away last year from a sudden illness. Another important fact about Erick was that he was a man of deep faith. So no matter what each of us believes in that regard, it is fun to imagine Erick looking down and cheering us on as we proudly celebrate our 50 year milestone.

In the Spotlight

In the Spotlight Ashley Wolters Keeps Sawtooth Door Running Smoothly

If you are at all familiar with our company, you know that at Franklin Building Supply, our team members are at the center of everything we do. Every order filled, customer assisted, and project supported is made possible by the dedication of our incredible team. That’s why taking time to recognize and celebrate the individuals who make up our team is so important to us. Every employee plays a role in shaping our culture, strengthening our communities, and helping FBS continue to grow. This month, we’re excited to spotlight Ashley Wolters. Ashley has been part of the Franklin family for almost five years and serves as an Administrative Assistant at our Sawtooth Door location. In her role, she wears many hats, providing administrative support, helping customers, and ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly. If you ask Ashley what she does, she’ll tell you simply: administrative

assistance and customer service, but anyone who works with her knows she brings much more than that to the team. A typical day for Ashley is anything but slow. As she puts it, she’s “always staying busy no matter what day it is.” What

she enjoys most about her job is helping customers and interacting with the people she meets each day. That positive energy and willingness to help are exactly the qualities that make our team stronger. Safety is also a large part of Ashley’s work environment. At Sawtooth Door, the team holds daily safety huddles to discuss potential hazards, so everyone stays prepared and looks out for one another. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time outdoors camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, and even ice fishing. She also loves golfing, swimming, and working out. And in case you’re wondering, Ashley admits cooking isn’t exactly her strong suit, but luckily her partner, Jaref Harrison, has that covered. Ashley, we’re grateful for your hard work, positivity, and commitment to the Franklin Building Supply team. Thanks for all you do!
