Remembering Erick Wadsworth A Franklin hero who lived and breathed this company for over 25 years You know it by now. Franklin Building Supply is 50 years old! Weʼre marking that accomplishment all year long and as we celebrate this quintessential American success story, we should shine the spotlight on people who played a role in getting us to this milestone. One Franklin hero was Erick Wadsworth. Erick lived and breathed Franklin every day for over half of the life of this company. He came to the company in 1991 to work in the Boise door shop. By the time he retired at the end of 2016, Erick had left an indelible mark on the company. Most folks familiar with Erick would call him a born salesman. Itʼs true he was drawn to sales, and he was very good at that honorable profession. To get a true picture of Erick, however, you have to know that Erick was drawn to people. He loved teaching, coaching, collaborating. Selling was a byproduct of what Erick truly loved doing – helping people.

As the sales manager for the Treasure Valley, and later for the company, Erick worked to make the sales staff better at listening to and helping our customers, which led to more sales. In his final acts before retirement, Erick took on two remarkable projects. He built from the ground up our first company-wide comprehensive training program. Then he wrote the first, and to this date the only, history of FBS. That later project required interviewing more than 100 current and former employees and customers. In those two acts, we see Erick Wadsworth at his core – one working to help people improve themselves and the other to honor the people and history of the company he loved. Erick would undoubtedly be enjoying this 50th year of FBS, but Erick passed away last year from a sudden illness. Another important fact about Erick was that he was a man of deep faith. So no matter what each of us believes in that regard, it is fun to imagine Erick looking down and cheering us on as we proudly celebrate our 50 year milestone.
