Oregon Urban Tree Catalog

We are deeply grateful to the many individuals and organizations across Oregon who contributed their time, expertise, and guidance to this project. KEY CONTRIBUTORS & PARTNERS Dave Bish , owner of Plant Oregon, generously provided access to plant photography, species descriptions, and detailed species characteristics, as well as permission to photograph trees at the nursery. Dave also dedicated significant time to reviewing each tree species for habitat suitability across Oregon’s diverse landscapes. Scott Altenhoff and Even Elderbrock of the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Urban and Community Forestry Program offered critical insights and recommendations that helped shape how trees were classified and organized within the catalog. Additionally, Portions of this catalog draw upon ODF’s 2024 Oregon’s Regional Tree Lists & Planting Guide which helped inform species suitability and planting guidance. Paul Ries and Jennifer Killian of the Oregon State University Urban Forestry Program provided invaluable assistance with access to Oregon State University datasets and reviewed early drafts of the catalog, strengthening its scientific rigor and educational value. Chief Author, Megan Wagner , devoted countless hours to researching, writing, editing, and formatting the content of this catalog. Her dedication, attention to detail, and commitment to clarity and accessibility were foundational to the successful completion of this project. Finally, we extend a special thank you to Ezra Marcos of Ezra Photography, whose beautiful images bring the Oregon Tree Catalog to life and help foster a deeper connection between people and trees.
