A rare gem, the American smoketree brings striking, year-round interest to the landscape. In early summer, airy clouds of pink to purple “smoke” appear, the fine, hairlike stalks of spent flower clusters. Spring foliage emerges soft pink, deepens to blue-green, then brilliant orange, red, and purple in fall.
