LitCamp Reimagined! | Grade 3 Leader Guide Green Bunk

In Motion This game involves both motion and sound and is a great way to focus concentration while having fun! DIRECTIONS 1. Begin by telling campers to keep their feet on the ground and stay where they are. 2. You demonstrate an action involving both movement and sound. 3. Everyone copies what you do. 4. Next, the camper to your left models an action and accompanying sound with everyone repeating. 5. Continue around the circle until each camper has had a chance to model an action and a sound. Magic Sculpture DIRECTIONS 1. Campers sit in a circle, facing in. One camper begins the game. 2. The chosen camper silently sculpts an imaginary sculpture with both hands. 3. The camper to the right has one chance to guess what this imaginary sculpture is. 4. Encourage campers to sculpt an object that reflects one of the 7 Strengths. 5. Go around the circle until all campers have had the chance to sculpt and guess. Note: If you think this may be too challenging for your campers, have them draw on chart paper rather than sculpt in thin air.

Scarecrow Tiggy DIRECTIONS 1. One camper is selected to be “It.” “It” chases the others around a predetermined area trying to tag them (on arms or back only). 2. Once tagged, a camper must stand at that spot with arms out and legs spread out like a scarecrow. To become free and join in again, the “scarecrow” must have another camper duck under one of his or her arms. The game is over after “It” has tagged everyone. Replace “It” every few minutes to maintain enthusiasm. Secret Phrase DIRECTIONS 1. Have campers stand in a circle, facing in. 2. Tell campers that you will whisper a statement to one camper, and each camper has to whisper that statement until the last camper has heard it. Leaders can whisper a phrase they feel is suitable for camp, such as, “Hope means good things lie ahead.” 3. The last camper will recite the statement, and the leader will confirm whether it was the original statement. Silent Line DIRECTIONS 1. The game is played silently. 2. You give campers a prompt, such as, “Line up from tallest to least tall.” 3. Campers must quickly and silently form a line that reflects the prompt. 4. Other prompts might include birthday month in calendar order (January to December); shoe size; hair color (lightest to darkest); shirt color (all the blues together, all the reds, etc.); proximity of home to LitCamp (closest to farthest). 5. Encourage campers to work together or suggest ways to smoothly form the line.
