Shadow Partners DIRECTIONS
The Numbers Game DIRECTIONS
1. Explain that you are going to play a game called Shadow Partners. Have everyone take a minute and think about their shadow. Have them notice what their shadow does when they move. Explain that you will be each other’s shadows. You will break up into pairs and take turns copying every movement your partners make. 2. Have campers pair up, or assign partners. 3. Have pairs face each other, then place their hands palm to palm. Tell them to pretend that they are in front of a large mirror. Choose one partner to start. This partner will change their facial expression, make a gesture, or move their body. The other partner must do the same thing. This partner will act as the “shadow.” 4. After three minutes, have partners swap roles. Mrs. Marbles DIRECTIONS 1. Campers sit in a circle, facing in. Before starting the game, explain that everyone must ask and answer a question without showing their teeth, which means without smiling or laughing. 2. The first camper says to the person on their left, “Hi! Have you seen Mrs. Marbles?” The second camper responds, “No, I haven’t, but I’ll ask my neighbor!” The sequence is repeated around the circle. 3. When someone smiles or laughs, the questioning stops briefly and then begins again with the camper who laughed. 4. The activity continues until campers go completely around the circle without anyone laughing or smiling. If the campers cannot help laughing, that’s okay!
Explain that the idea of the game is to make sure that all campers and leaders can share with the group and be themselves. 1. Have campers sit in a circle, facing in. 2. Ask campers to think of a number from 1 to 5, but not say it aloud. Tell them to hold up that number of fingers once they have decided. 3. When all campers are holding up the numbers they chose in their heads, explain the rules. You can say: “For every finger you are holding up, you will share one fact about yourself. We’ll go around in a circle until everyone has shared!” 4. Go around the circle with each camper saying one thing and then lowering one finger. 5. Continue going around the circle until all of the campers have shared their facts. 6. This game enables people to share lots of standard and fun information as well as have a good time. When I Grow Up DIRECTIONS 1. Campers sit or stand in a circle, facing in. Choose a camper to go first. The first camper says, “When I grow up, I want to be…” 2. The activity continues around the circle until everyone has had a turn. 3. The leader can write down each response. As a group, find similarities and differences.
