OPENING CAMPFIRE 15 MIN Welcome campers and greet them by name. Remind them about the focus, Community Building, and prepare the group for the day’s lesson. Campers, in the previous lesson, we read that Pluto was once known as the ninth planet in our solar system. What do you remember about why that changed? Have campers share with partners, and then continue. What would you like to know more about? Invite volunteers to share their ideas with the group. Today, we’re going to dive deep into Pluto! Not a Planet? Not a Problem! Let’s work as a community to explore how Pluto and other objects in space are alike or different and practice building our knowledge by asking and answering questions about what we read. Wrap up with a song or the LitCamp cheer.
