READING POWER 20 MIN Word-Reading Skills in Action Today, campers will play a game that reinforces the word-reading skill.

The Fairest, Scariest, Merriest of Them All! Objective Practice reading and using words with comparative endings -er and -est. Get Ready to Play Divide players into three teams: Adjectives, Comparatives, and Superlatives. Goal Read words with -er and -est , and use the words in oral sentences. How to Play the Game 1. Each team—Adjectives, Comparatives, and Superlatives—sends one player to the front. The leader displays an adjective. 2. The Adjective player reads the word and acts it out. For example, silly . “I’m silly!” (Player makes a silly face.) 3. The Comparative player goes next and has to act out and say, “I’m sillier than that!” (Player makes a silly face and a silly noise.) 4. The Superlative has to top them all saying, “I’m the silliest of all!” (Player

makes a silly face, a silly noise, and does a silly dance.) 5. Play as many rounds with as many words as you choose.
