OPENING CAMPFIRE 15 MIN Welcome campers and greet them by name. Remind them about the focus strength and prepare the group for the day’s lesson. Campers, we have a lot in common. For one thing, we all belong to the human race. For another, we all started out as babies. And now we all are LitCampers. Let’s find out what else we have in common. Invite campers to talk with partners to identify interests they share, then open the discussion to the group. You may want to suggest topics, such as favorite food, color, sport/activity, book, and so on. Like the kid in How You Got So Smart , as you grew up you got smart by observing, exploring, asking questions, and trying new things. Today, let’s all observe, explore, ask questions, and try new things to get even smarter! Wrap up with a song or the LitCamp cheer.
