“ We don’t talk enough about the females in our program. Our heifer pairs spend the summer on our highest elevation pasture, over 10,000 feet, where Mother Nature does the culling for us. Those that can’t handle the conditions simply don’t make it home. While it may not be the easiest or most conventional method, we believe this approach ensures that the females who remain in our herd are the toughest, most resilient producers—capable of raising bulls our customers can put their trust in. We have also been PAP testing longer than the PAP EPD has been around. We feel that this is a great way to find the outliers of the high-altitude problem that has been plaguing high desert/mountain herds for many years.”
