30/6/77 VÅNDÄVANA – TKG’S DIARY When Çréla Prabhupäda heard a baby crying, he called Akñayänan- da Swami to ask why mothers and children were living in the guest- house. Çréla Prabhupäda was not in favor of many women living in Våndävana, especially in the guesthouse, and he said, “Better they go to Mäyäpur, where there is sufficient space.” 14/3/76 MÄYÄPUR – A TRANSCENDENTAL DIARY VOL. 1 As he sat down at his desk putting on his tilaka, he noticed a beautifully decorated bookmark that I had just placed there. Picking it up he asked me where it came from. I told him it was a gift from Kåñëa Rüpa däsé, an Australian brahmacäréni living here in Mäyäpur. He exclaimed very appreciatively, “Such nice service, how can it be refused? I have never stopped them from rendering service simply because they are women.”
