Srila Prabhupada On Mayapur

construction

28/7/71 BROOKLYN – TAMÄL KÅÑËA DÄSA Regarding giving contract for building our temple I think it is not a good proposal. We are not so rich. The plans made by Juhu’s engi- neer are alright. We can engage our own men to construct the temple without any contractor. Nara-näräyaëa is experienced, and there are so many experienced men in our Society and I think some of them may go to Mäyäpur and we will construct ourselves. Besides, in India many of our godbrothers have constructed big big temples but they have never taken the help of any contractor or engineer. The native masonry workers are very experienced so we can simply supervise.

5/8/71 LONDON– BHAVÄNANDA MAHÄRÄJA But if you are insist- ing and require some change, then the best thing to do is to go to Mäyäpur and manage the building construction there. Tamäl has writ- ten in his last letter that he has no experience in such building affairs and he wants to appoint some big contractors. That will be too expen- sive. We can save that amount by supervising ourselves this construc- tion. That will be favor- able for our purpose.
