ÇRÉMAD-BHÄGAVATAM 7.5.23-24 PURPORT Deity worship has two divisions, namely pure and mixed with frui- tive activities. For one who is steady, Deity worship is compulsory. Observing the various types of festivals, such as Çré Janmäñöamé, Räma-navamé and Nåsiàha-caturdaçé, is also included in the process of Deity worship. In other words, it is compulsory for householder devotees to observe these festivals. 6/12/71 BOMBAY – JAYAPATÄKÄ MAHÄRÄJA The schedule to be followed in worshipping the Deity is as follows. Morning artik may be performed at 4.30 until 5 a.m. Then immediately following the Deity room should be washed clean and the dirty uten- sils removed. Then everyone can chant before the Deity until 6.30. The Deity should then be bathed and dressed and fresh flowers put. It should not take longer than one our to bathe and dress the Deity if
