Once we made the difficult decision to offer FHCC Blackcap Lady 1550, there was no doubt that she would lead off this year’s event. ✓ We were very excited when 1550 originally sold half-interest with her flush brother FHCC Majority in our 2022 sale. We had great confidence in both of them but made the comment at the time that 1550 might be an even more powerful breeding piece because of her unique $Maternal advantages. ✓ Over the last three years both have exceeded our high expectations, producing top quality cattle and not only maintaining but continuing to improve their breed leading genetic predictions for the traits that drive both $Maternal and $Combined indexes. ✓ Today there are only three active dams in the entire Angus breed that can match 1550’s elite combination of both $Maternal and $Combined genetic value. ✓ Her first daughter sold as our featured and top-selling heifer calf in last year’s sale to Byrd Cattle Company in California.
