Why You Need To Come Back In For A Tune-Up:

“The reason I came to physical therapy was that I tore my knee up playing soccer in 2016. A friend of mine from church suggested Arlington Physical Therapy. Matt Connell has been very hands-on, he is very focused on what I need. My surgeon is very impressed with how much I have been able to accomplish, in just a short amount of time. It is because of the physical therapy I have received at Arlington Physical Therapy! - Chat R.

What is a good Running Pattern • Running up right and stable • Do not let feet cross midline when you are running. • Mid foot striking is optimal. To much heel strike can increase incidence of injury. Dysfunctional Pattern • When your body learns a less optimal pattern to perform a task either from injury, pain, mobility deficits, strength loss, or changes that happen when you fatigue. • Dysfunctional Pattern increases risk of injury and wears your body down. Contributing Factors • Quadricep weakness: which can cause extra pressure between the patella and femur during flexion • Hamstring tightness: which places more posterior force on the knee PFJ • Hamstring weakness: which puts more stress on knee • Hip musculature weakness: which results in medial rotation of the knee (rolls inward) and a valgus position (knock knees) IMPROVEYOURRUNNING AND PERFORMANCE

• Core Weakness • An excessive ‘Q’ angle: ( > 20 degrees) • Patella Alta or decreased patellar mobility • Unequal leg length: (mostly due to pelvic dysfunction) • Foot over-pronation • Excessive or sudden increase in frequency, duration or intensity of training

• Increased downhill running • Worn or improper footwear
