Ages 4-11 Miss Joanie drama camps, in conjunction with the City of Boulder’s Parks & Recreation Department, are held at Salberg Park, on the corner of 19th St. and Elder Ave. Each week is different and uses the technique of “play making,” which lets the children use their imagination to adapt a familiar story or write their own script, so the children’s plays are always original and unique! Each day consists of drama workshops, writing and reviewing of the script, creation of sets and costumes, rehearsal, and outdoor playtime. There is a lovely playground/park at the drama camp site that we use for lunch and breaks. The week culminates in a free Friday afternoon performance for family and friends!

Ages 5-13 Our Core Engineering programs are our biggest “sandbox.” This is the safe space for kids to learn and discover the most through play. It’s about the process, not the result. Themed classes and camps explore imaginative worlds that kids already know and love, such as Star Wars or Minecraft.
The Core Engineering curriculum is Intro to STEM and STEM Challenge. These programs are broad in theme and draw upon the greatest variety of possible projects. Returning students will be given new building challenges. Our Advanced Engineering programs are designed for experienced students. Themed classes and camps incorporate many engineering concepts, and have no prerequisites.

Avid4 Adventure | Grades 2-11 Safety is our first priority. While risk is inherent in all outdoor activities, we pride ourselves on teaching campers to assess situations, use sound judgment and make good decisions
as they take appropriate risks. Please note that Valmont Bike Park programs involve a higher level of risk due to the terrain and skills taught. We mitigate these risks by grouping kids and teens by experience level, requiring protective equipment, providing environmental briefings, practicing falling techniques, and challenge by choice across all elements. Valmont Bike Park Camp campers should be confident riding on two wheels (without training wheels). • Participants will be divided into groups of 7 or less; must be able to ride 2-wheeler. • Extended care 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. available (fees at Avid4. com). Camp Amico Mentor Program | Ages 14-17 This program gives young individuals the opportunity to develop positive leadership skills and have fun throughout the summer. The mentor program is for energetic and motivated teens who want to work with teens with developmental disabilities in a camp setting. Through direct supervision and hands on experience, mentors will learn to lead activities and engage camp participants. The mentors will attend a variety of trainings that will teach them to be effective leaders, improve their self-confidence, and assist camp participants all while developing new friendships. We encourage the mentors to take full responsibility in the application process by completing an application and obtaining an interview. Must be available for multi-weeks throughout the summer as well as training during the week of May 30-June 2. Interested individuals need to contact Emily Nelsen at 720-726-0984 or nelsene@bouldercolorado.gov.
