NEW BRAPID BUS ROUTE CONNECTS NORTH BATON ROUGE, DOWNTOWN, AND LSU Getting around Baton Rouge could soon become easier with the launch of the BRapid service line. Part of the MOVEBR transportation improvements, the nearly 10- mile route will connect North Baton Rouge, downtown, and LSU through a central bus corridor. Officials say construction is nearly complete, with the route expected to open by the end of 2026. Crews are finishing final details, including bus stop technology and schedule tracking systems. Once complete, the service will help make key areas of Baton Rouge more accessible. ■ movebr.brla.gov/brapid
NEW ALERT DESIGNA TION HELPS PROTECT MISSING CHILDREN WITH AUTISM A new Louisiana law is bringing added support and awareness when children and adults with cognitive disabilities go missing. Called Bryan’s Call, the new designation adds a special notification to existing missing person alerts when a person has a qualifying cognitive disability, helping communities better understand how to respond. The measure was inspired by the tragic death of 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez and aims to improve search efforts during critical moments. For local parents, the added awareness could help save lives by encouraging faster searches in areas where children may be drawn, including bodies of water. ■ louisiana.gov
