Our Unsung Hero impressed judges with his volunteer and charity work over and above a mission of making workers, businesses and homes in Ireland safer. Prior to his current role as director of The Pat Group, Feilim Mac Críosta was a lecturer teaching apprentices in Ireland’s Fás/ETB colleges for 23 years. Since leaving the role, he volunteers his services to teach apprentices all areas of the trade. Feilim is also a volunteer with Riders for Life Blood Bikes East (BBE), an emergency medical transport service between hospitals in Dublin city and the greater Dublin area. Operated by nearly 150 volunteers available for shifts on a rota basis, BBE has saved hospitals over €1m and completed over 35,000 transports since its creation in 2013. As well as riding for BBE, Felim has been its chair since 2019, overseeing the overall functioning of the group and liaising with other Blood Bike groups across Ireland and the UK. Day to day, he oversees The PAT Group, which specialises in PAT testing, periodic inspection and electrical safety audits. Feilim was also instrumental in the creation of Inspector Group Ireland (IGI), a valuable resource for the sharing of electrical industry information. Qualified electricians, contractors and apprentices use the platform to share information and job opportunities. IGI also raises funds for both Aoibheann’s Pink Tie National Children’s Cancer Charity and BBE.

Quick to embrace new technologies and develop its products in response to changing market needs, while maintaining its core values of quality, customer care and service, ATC was deemed by judges to be a worthy winner of Distributor of the Year. ATC supplies electrical wholesalers across Ireland and the UK with a range of electric heating, hand dryers and ventilation products serving the commercial, hospitality, residential, sports and leisure, education and healthcare industries. It has grown from its inception in 1991 to become a market-leading company in its field. Ciaran O’Reilly, founding Managing Director of ATC, said, “From the very beginning, we always believed that our core values of quality, customer care and service are the cornerstone of longevity and success. “Exceptional customer care and quality products were the priority when we started, and still are today.” The ATC brand has evolved since its entry to market, culminating in trademarked ATC branding in 2020. In January 2024, following 12 months of market and supplier research, a decision was made to launch ATC Renewables, a new company division within the ATC family. The team at ATC has worked hard to expand and develop its product offerings whilst at the same time growing its customer base throughout Ireland and the UK.
